What's A #Quirkbomb?
You know those guerilla art projects? The ones where people put art out into the wild, for others to find and benefit from? This is like that. The full project will involve: 1. Qwirks 2. This Community. 3. An Unsuspecting, Slightly Confused but Charmed Public
The Qwirks need to get out of the studio, and into the world. To do that, we'll be working towards a guerilla art project or two... or ten... or maybe a gazillion! We don't know all the details of how this will work yet.
What We Do Know Is:
- Each #QuirkBomb will be a separate guerrilla art project that leaves Qwirks (in some form) in public view. Some of the projects may involve leaving Qwirks for the public to discover and take home with them, others may be larger art installations. We'll have to see what takes off!
- #QuirkBombs are meant primarily for public benefit, rather than as promotional and marketing pieces for the studio. That's important to keep in mind as this develops.
- The Patreon community will be invited to participate in most #Quirkbombs, both for fun, and to widen our reach. Long term, patrons will not only be able to fund bombing campaigns, but will be directly involved in the creation, custmization and distribution of Qwirks. It takes a village to raise a child, and a tribe to wrangle the Qwirks!
Notes On Possibilities:
We'll need a separate, dedicated webpage before going much further - somewhere people can find clues to locations, track the Qwirks, report discoveries, and share their stories/customizations of Qwirks.
It would be great to have themed bombings, with special Qwirks released in appropriate places. Imagine, for instance, Mental Illness Qwirks, distributed both to patients and mental health workers. Or Vintage Qwirks, distributed to retirement homes and senior communities. We could do Diversity Qwirks, Conservation Qwirks, Tolerance Qwirks -- Qwirks that carry messages or help raise funds for charities or neighborhood improvement projects.
What if we did a bombing of Plush Qwirks? Soft cuddly smooshy Qwirks, suited for hugging and loving for children to find in hospital wards, or in schools, playgrounds or shelters in disadvantaged areas? We could Cuddle Bomb adults, too!
To make a BIG BIG BIG KABOOM? Well, this would take a significant of funding (a successful Kickstarter campaign, public grants or corporate sponsorship) but picture giant fiberglass Qwirks, appearing in seemingly-random-yet-appropriate public and semi-public places.
