Those odd little figures in the illustration above? They're personifications of our personal oddities, twitches and tics - Totems of Our Weirdness, if you will. They call themselves "Quirks" and they're exactly the sort of thing a Quirkipreneur™ needs hanging about the place.
It's was almost 6 months ago that the Quirks took form in these initial character sketches, and boy HOWDY, have they been busy! In that time, they've developed a wide variety of skills, started two companies, learned to 3D print new copies of themselves, plotted world domination via marshmellow roasts, and most impressively? They learned to set the clock on the DVD player, without the manual!!
Quirks can be shy, reclusive creatures, and they've been staying well behind the scenes, content to futz around in the shadows. But today? Well...
They announced it was their Coming-Out-Into-The-Sun-Day!
Even though as I write this?
It's Friday, not Sunday.
Even though it's well after dark.
Even though it's so cloudy here,
And if it weren't dark,
There still wouldn't be any sun to come out into.
But the Quirks will not be dissuaded.
So TADA! Here they are, being introduced in their very own Coming Out post.
I did manage to talk them out of the Rainbow Pride Parade they wanted to have - they seemed to think it would involve tye-dying whole families of lions or some suchI explained that they were co-opting the symbols of a repressed minority movement, but they didn't get it. It seems they reproduce by fission, like Ameobas, so they really don't grasp issues of sexual identity.
Finally I told them I couldn't find the purple crayon, and that we simply COULDN'T have a Rainbow Parade without the color purple. That worked, for now at least. By in a day or two, when the sun comes back out, all bets are off; we may be fending off rainbows and bunny-corns by the bushel. The Quirks will have their way, and their day!
(Don't even ask about the bunny-corns. Some things, once seen, cannot be unseen. Still, it's mostly safe to Google "bunny-corns" if you'd like... Rule 34 not withstanding)
P.S. It's now Saturday Morning, and quite sunny here in Texas. The Quirks are looking smug, and digging through my art supply boxes, searching for that missing purple crayon. This could get interesting...
